The Cairn Hill Fe-(Cu-Au) deposit is located within the World-class 1.6 Ga Olympic iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) Province of the Gawler Craton, South Australia. Cairn Hill deposit formation was penecontemperaneous with regional orogenesis, and is interpreted as a deep-level, 'magnetite-rich' end-member IOCG system hosted by an upper-amphibolite …

HYDROTHERMAL EVOLUTION OF THE CAIRN HILL IOCG DEPOSIT ABSTRACT The Cairn Hill Fe-(Cu-Au) deposit is located within the World-class 1.6 Ga Olympic iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) Province of the Gawler Craton, South Australia. Cairn Hill deposit formation was penecontemperaneous with regional orogenesis, and is

These include major iron-oxide-copper-gold deposits of the eastern Gawler Craton such as the Olympic Dam and Prominent Hill deposits (Belperio et al., 2007;Groves et al., 2005Groves et al ...

The Cairn Hill Magnetite-Sulfide Deposit, Mount Woods Inlier, South Australia: Ore Genesis and Spatial-Temporal Relationships with Iron Oxide Copper-Gold Systems in the Gawler Craton

The Cairn Hill Fe-Cu deposit is an example of magnetite-dominant iron oxide copper gold (IOCG) mineralisation in the Gawler Craton. Hematite-dominant IOCG deposits are well represented within the Olympic Cu-Au Province, including Olympic Dam, Prominent Hill and Carapateena (Skirrow et al. 2007; Skirrow 2009).

1. Introduction. Since the discovery of the supergiant Olympic Dam deposit in Australia in 1975, Iron Oxide Copper–Gold (IOCG) deposits have become the largest producer of uranium (Hitzman and Valenta, 2005, Skirrow, 2011), the third producer of copper (Sillitoe, 2012) and significant producer of gold (Kerrich et al., 2000, Frimmel, 2008, Porter, 2010).

The Cairn Hill Magnetite – Copper – Gold project is predicated on shipping unprocessed ROM ore to China where it will be processed into a high grade (over 70% Fe) magnetite concentrate and a copper / gold concentrate. The two pits at Cairn Hill are planned to produce 7.3mt averaging 50.9% Fe, 0.43% Cu and

showing the location of the Cairn Hill deposit and Cairn Hill Shear Zone. The 1.6 Ga Olympic Cu-Au Province is a metallogenic belt extending over 700km along the eastern margin of the Proterozoic Gawler Craton, South Australia. The Province hosts a diverse range of iron-oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) systems from the giant Olympic Dam Cu

The Gossan Hill volcanic-hosted massive sulfide (VHMS) deposit is an Archean Cu-Zn-magnetite–rich deposit located in the Warriedar fold belt of the Yilgarn craton, Western Australia. The deposit is hosted by redeposited rhyodacitic tuffaceous volcaniclastics of the Golden Grove Formation and is overlain by felsic volcanic rocks of the Scuddles Formation.

testing of magnetic targets at the Mt Woods Magnetite Project. Several particularly strong magnetic anomalies have been identified lying approximately 25km southeast of IMXs Cairn Hill magnetite-copper-gold mine and 30km east of the Snaefell prospect, which currently has an Inferred Resource of 569Mt at 27.1% Fe (18% Fe cut-off).1

The Cairn Hill magnetite-copper-gold deposit is located 700 km NW of Adelaide, 55 km south of Coober Pedy and ~65 km NW of the Prominent Hill IOCG deposit in South Australia (#Location: 29° 17' 55"S, 135° 7' 18"E). It is located in the northern half of the Mount Woods Domain (MWD) on the northeastern margin of the preserved Gawler craton, and also lies …

The first ore production has been achieved at IMX Resources' Cairn Hill mine. The magnetite-copper-gold deposit will ramp up production and begin its first shipment in the third quarter of this calendar year. Once full production is achieved, the mine will be delivering 6 trainloads of ore per week to Port Adelaide for export.

Small high grade DSO mines include the specular hematite Peculiar Knob, with resources of 32.5 Mt @ 63.2% Fe and the Cairn Hill magnetite-copper-gold deposit with 11.4 Mt @ 49.5% Fe, 0.4% Cu, 0.1g/t Au.

The Cairn Hill deposit is primarily magnetite iron with a copper and gold content that accounts for about one third of production value. It is classified by geologists as magnetite that was formed around the same time as the hematite deposit at Prominent Hill and Olympic Dam that hosts a copper-gold ore body.
